Hotpot is thought to have originated from Mongolia and is usually a flavoured broth filled with East Asian ingredients. It is usually eaten together with friends and family as it creates a comforting atmosphere. Our group decided to use hotpot as a theme to talk about different topics (or ingredients) and show how they relate with one another. Each of us made an edition mainly focusing on one subject we have a strong interest/ knowledge in. Mine was the environment, along with how capitalism and politics plays a part in that.

Using our different backgrounds, we talked about different cultural meanings of hotpot. Including stories from different people and places that all tie back to hotpot. The zines comprise of research from different sources, primary and secondary, our own opinions and experiences, as well as our drawings and designs. Each zine has its own "aesthetic" relating to each topic but is still cohesive with the other.
